A Simple Pre-Ride Check for Your Cycling Gloves

A quick glove check before each ride can help you notice fit or condition issues before getting on the bicycle. It only takes a few moments and can easily become part of your normal preparation routine.

Begin by looking over the finger openings, palm sections, seams, pull tabs, and wrist closures. Check for loose areas, visible damage, or sections that no longer sit correctly.

Next, put the gloves on and move your hands naturally. Open your palms, make a relaxed fist, and bend each finger several times. The gloves should follow these movements without creating an unusually restrictive feeling.

Secure the wrist closures and confirm that they remain comfortably positioned. Closures that are too loose may shift during use, while closures that are too tight may limit normal wrist movement.

Finally, hold the handlebars and test your usual riding positions. Make sure the palm lies flat and the finger openings remain properly aligned. When the ride is finished, allow the gloves to dry naturally before storing them in a clean, ventilated place.

Regular checks and basic care can help keep your cycling gloves ready for future rides.
